Privacy Policy
Last updated September 28, 2026. This policy explains what SelGPT collects, why, who we share it with and the choices you have. In short: we collect what we need to run the service, we don’t sell your data, we don’t show ads, and your chats are not used to train AI models.
1. What we collect
- Account details: your name, email address and profile picture, from the sign-up form or from Google if you sign in with Google.
- Your content: the messages, files and images you send, and the replies SelGPT generates, so you can see your chat history.
- Usage: which models you use and how much, to apply your plan’s allowance.
- Billing: your plan and subscription status from Polar. We never see or store your full card number.
- Technical data: IP address, browser and device information, and logs needed to keep SelGPT secure and working. IP addresses used to prevent fake sign-ups are stored only as a one-way hash.
2. How we use it
- To provide SelGPT: sign you in, answer your messages, keep your history and apply your plan.
- To prevent abuse, such as multiple free accounts, fraud and attacks.
- To handle billing and support, and to send essential service emails.
We do not sell your personal data, show ads, or use your chats to train AI models.
3. Who we share it with
We share data only with the providers that run SelGPT, and only as needed:
- AI model providers, through OpenRouter: your messages go to the provider of the model you choose (OpenAI, Anthropic, DeepSeek or Xiaomi models, hosted by those companies or by DeepInfra, GMI Cloud, Amazon Bedrock, Google Vertex or Azure). We only allow providers that agree not to use your data for training.
- Web search: search queries are sent to Keenable when a model searches the web.
- Clerk handles sign-in and stores your account details.
- Polar processes payments as our merchant of record.
- MongoDB Atlas (Amazon Web Services, United States) stores your account data and chats.
- Fly.io (United States) hosts SelGPT and stores uploaded files.
We may also disclose data if the law requires it, or to protect SelGPT, our users or others from harm. If SelGPT is sold or merged, your data would move with it under this policy.
4. Where your data is stored
SelGPT’s servers and database are in the United States, and our providers may process data in other countries. Where the law requires it, these transfers rely on appropriate safeguards such as standard contractual clauses.
5. How long we keep it
- Chats and files stay until you delete them or your account.
- When your account is deleted, we remove your data within 30 days, except what we must keep for legal, tax or fraud-prevention reasons.
- Billing records are kept as long as tax law requires.
7. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you can ask to access, correct, export or delete your personal data, or object to or restrict how we use it. Email support@selgpt.app and we will reply within 30 days. You can also complain to your local data protection authority.
8. Security
Data is encrypted in transit, access to production systems is restricted, and sign-in is handled by Clerk. No system is perfectly secure, so please use a strong sign-in method and tell us if you notice anything unusual.
9. Children
SelGPT is not for children under 16, and we don’t knowingly collect their data. If you believe a child has an account, contact us and we will delete it.
10. Changes
We will post updates here and change the date at the top. If a change is significant, we will tell you by email or in SelGPT.
11. Contact
